| Healthy woman program coming to Gateway
The Gateway Regional Medical Center is urging local residents to join in its free Healthy Woman Program series and participate in the upcoming event "Our Love Affair with Food."The seminar will take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Pascal Hall at GRMC, featuring Toniya Singh, M.D., a cardiologist at St. Louis Heart and Vascular."She's going to talk about heart disease for the most part and then we're going to tie it back in with diet," said Kate Allaria, director of public relations and marketing at GRMC.The Gateway team and Singh will offer guilt-free snacks while teaching participants how unhealthy indulgences can lead to the number one killer in women, heart disease. Cholesterol screenings will also be available for $10.Allaria said fruits, vegetables and 100-calorie snack packs are among the treats offered.The Healthy Woman Program is designed to improve the emotional, physical and fiscal well being of women and their families.
Baby Spinach Salad with Clementines and Pine Nuts
Arrange the clementine segments, goat cheese and walnuts over the baby spinach. For the dressing, combine the clementine, lemon juice, oil, salt and pepper in a blender until pureed. Drizzle the dressing over salad or serve on the side. Makes 4 servings.
